Hello Mrs. Fernandez's class and parents,
This week, our class is working hard on a Native American and Explorer social studies project. We are taking sketchnotes (taking normal notes but with some diagrams and cute pictures) about the explorers and the Native Americans. We are also developing a skit about how the Native American tribes and explorers met.
In our reading workshop, Mrs. Fernandez's class is reading Blood on the River as a class book. We are writing down summaries, inferences, questions, predictions, and much more! Blood on the River is an exciting book about these explorers.
In writing our class is writing small narrative stories that happened to the students. We are also learning about show-don't-tell (show don't tell is like this: a teller would say "He was angry." and a shower would write "His fists clenched together as he felt heat rise up.") The class is also working on tenses.
In math, Mrs. Fernandez is teaching volume of a 3d "L" shape. The class has also been working on the volume of rectangular prisms. We are also making objects that HAVE to be 2,000 cubic centimeters.
